Horror Film History..

Horror is an ancient art form,horror films are movies that strive to elicit the emotions of fear, horror and terror from viewers, their plots usually involve themes of death, the supernatural or mental illness.Many horror movies also include a central villain. Also due to technology increasing you can view horror films in 3D and its a more enjoyable experience for the audience.

Horror movies from the past are largely based on classic literature of the Gothic/Horror genre such as Dracula,Frankenstein and the Phantom Of The Opera.

Horror films have been dismissed as violent,low budget B movies and exploitation films.There are many genres in horror such as:

  • Body horror- which is graphic destruction or degeneration of the human body this is also movies which include diseases etc.
  • Horror thriller-when you don't find out the killer or villain till the end of the film.
  • Horror comedy (spoof)-a hybridgenre with gory and horror scenes mixed with humour.
