Competitor analysis..

Carrie (1976)

A similar idea to ours as she is bullied by students in high school and gets fed up to the point where she seeks revenge on them and kills them. The difference with our plot is that the protagonist is a male who is bullied and is hurt and embarrassed by three girls.Whereas Carrie kills her tormenters with her supernatural powers and we will use props and show the victim reactions in different ways.

Distributed by United Artists.

The budget they spent on the film was $1.8 million.

The gross revenue made was $33,800,00.

Was followed by The Rage: Carrie 2

Also due to technology increasing you can view horror films in 3D and its a more enjoyable experience for the audience.

Overview of Paranormal Activity..

Compared to Psycho here we can see that technology has improved massively as the use of props (as killing objects) has decreased and instead there are unseen forces killing people which create enigma codes as the audience don't know what the resolution will be.Distributed by Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks the budget they spent on the movie was $15,000 and the gross revenue was $141,659,096. The use of long continuous shots appear quite frequently in the movie and doesnt follow the protagonist when they move somewhere else.

Overview of Psycho..

Horror is an ancient art form.In the past technology wasn't so developed and was recorded in black and white like Psycho (Alfred Hitchcock). The famous shower scene developed where there was space in the side frame to show thats where the threat is coming from and there diegetic sound coming from the characters screaming and the water dripping. There is no non-diegtic sound at the point when you can see a blurred figure behind the shower curtains until he stabs her there is menacing tone of parrallel music when he stabs her multiple times. A closeup is used to convey the distress through the victims facial expression and back lighting is used so the identity of the killer is hidden a typical horror convention. It was distributed by Paramount Pictures released on June 16th 1960.Budget spent on the film was $806,947 and the gross revenue was $32 million!
