Currently we are just finishing up our print work after looking at many many magazines..

Plan For This Week!

Hey Girls

As you Know we have reached the final days of finishing and finalizing the production and as for what we have achieved i must say even with all the ups and downs and the childish little games played by others ,we have DONE very WELL! and i am PROUD OF US.

We will be in school Tuesday-Friday all this week 9:00-3:30 for the Morning and Afternoon class. Mariam Don't forget to bring the Camera Bag and any other School Equipment.

We need to:
Finish the PRINT work.
Finish all the EDITING.
Add final touches to the production.
we may ADD 1 very short scene to make it 2.00 minutes.
All work will be discussed within the GROUP!, As for the Pictures for the PRINT work we need to decide when they will be taken and the location A.S.A.P!

Please add any other MUST DO Things to the list if i have forgotten Thanks.

Hi

Girls i just want to say i am sorry i was not able to stay on Friday and come in on Saturday, as you know this week has not been the best of weeks for me with the passing away of two of my relatives less than a week =( and i just want say THANK YOU for the great SUPPORT and UNDERSTANDING.

The work that was produced on Saturday was a very WELL DONE! and i hope we can keep this up and stay focused on the week ahead as it is really important to keep working on the production and get as much done as possible.

This Week We Need To:

Finalise the order of the trailer.
Find soundtrack and sound effect (if needed).
Decide on the BEST logo.
Decide on the BEST institutional text.
Add final effects and changes to the trailer (during editing)
Take more Picture for the magazine article (different location & clothes) as requested.

Please add any other work that needs to be done by this week if i have forgotten to do so.

Progress Report

Ok well this week we finally found a soundtrack that is suitable for our production but obviously we need more then 1 soundtrack as this is horror so we need to cut it up to use with parallel scenes, it will be better if we could use varieties of soundtrackd but not overdo it as this will create more effect, speaking of effects we need to find sound effects to make the transition between the sounds better and some sound bridges. We understand the music is the most important elements you feel engaged and it is emotive.

What need to be done :

• make trailer closer to 2 mins
• find more sound effects or record them (the bang sound effect is at 1.48-1.53 (btw we need a scream and choking sound too)
• sort the order out on timeline as we add more things so the scenes are parallel to the music

Logo Experiments:

Our group decided to use the last one as it is in the style of the Scream logo and YES we know they are quite simple but its effective. You know what they say Less is More!

Things to do..

we've ordered the shots and its about 1.57 so we're going to have to take some shots of as we need to make the institutional text that is part of the trailer and just add more effects to some of the scenes and also because we feel like we should just include the most dramatic key scenes.

So think of text..keep looking for suitable soundtracks and.. LOGOS!! and finally just carry on with the level of commitment =)

Progress so far..

I'm glad to say that things are finally taking place and we have now finished filming and have some good scenes we just need to fix the order of them and find suitable soundtracks as well as finalising the logos the coming up with institutional text to promote the trailer which wont be hard.

We can pull this off we have good shots we just have to work hard and have the same level of commitment and focus =)

www- the pictures we took for the magazine, captured all scenes all scenes on the timeline and ordered them

ebi- we find a range of soundtracks for backup
we may need to film some more scenes just in case to make the storyline flow better

Progress report & action plan

This week we captured all our shots, experimented with the 'Primetime logo' and have been focusing on the magazine so we haven't started edited just yet but we plan to soon.We need to take professional looking pictures for the magazine and on Monday we will film the final scene as we tried it out this week but had a change of heart about the location.

Meanwhile we need to keep looking for alternative soundtracks and create a final version of logo for 'One Step 2 Far'..

And girls..the sooner we get this over and done with the better =)

so dont leave things last minute!

Action Plan & Progress Report

Ok well this week has been really hectic due to other things going on and interferring with our filming timetable such as the talent show rehearsals (which Harps rocked)but as they over now we shall focus on filming so Monday afterskl we will be busy trying to get the rest of the scenes in so bring extra clothes as we will be filiming as much as we can so that way we can hopefully be done by midweek and be ready to edit..we've captured some shots but need to do the rest!

Today's Filming is CANCELED unfortunately due to POOR weather. As for TOMORROW we have to wait &&* see (Fingers crossed) hopefully the weather will be better!

Next Best Step ..

Hi Girls ..

So as we know Monday was a disappointment due to the poor weather + our main actor (Reece) was not able to stay. As for Tuesday not every one was able to meet up so that was canceled
=( however TOMORROW will go ahead as planed because we cant fall behind now!.We HAVE to work EXTREMELY hard and complete as many scenes as we can in order to make up for the work we was not able to do on Monday but this does not mean we accept second BEST. So be ready to work HARD!

Wednesday:
Amelia scene , creepy place scene , Jessie + walking scene.

Thursday:
Jessie running scene (add any i may have forgotten)

Friday:
redoing any scenes that need improving+ any other missed out scene &&* finalizing everything done so far.

Half Term TimeTable-15/02/10

Heya Guys ...
So i think the Test Screening In Class went well and so far so good however we have so much to work on and improve.We need to focus on the criticism we got back in order to improve and be PROUD of the POSITIVE feedback too, So for the next best step we will be redoing the Amelia &&* Jessie scene again + add more.Myself and Mariam have thought/still thinking of more scene that we could include. All of this will be discussed Tomorrow!

Test Screening Feedback

We mostly got B's and some C's for media language, conventions, creativity, attention to detail and technical proficiency.

Positive feedback on the cinematography:

Point of view shot which was done with a handheld camera and the over the shoulder shot.Use of closeup to identify with protagonist.Good tracking shot and the long shot shows

Positive feedback on the mise en scene:

Dark costumes and atmosphere

Positive feedback on the lighting:

Low key lighting fits genre. The light on the victims face enhanced the confusion on her face.

Positive feedback on the conventions and audience needs:

Identification with girl as you can tell shes a school girl because of the folder prop.Female victim showing vulnerability.Final girl.

Criticism feedback on cinematography:

Couldn't tell if it was meant to be shaky for a point of view shot or steadycam. More of a variety of angles.

Criticism feedback on mise en scene:

Too dark sometimes, protagonist needs to wear lighter clothes to stand out amongst villain.Include more props to create terror..

Criticism feedback on lighting:

need another light source..variety of angles where the light can come from.Blurry at times.

Criticism feedback on the conventions and audience needs:

More attention on villaint to convey hes a threat to the audience. significant prop or something to make character unique.Need more enigmatic items.

Target audience needs:

Extreme closeup on villains facial expression..more dramatic scenes..monatge sequence.

Post production suggestions:

Sound effects..mixing niche music with mass?..grey scale effects..add and remove grain accordingly.

Today's filming went very well + we had jokes at McDonald's hehehe anyways back to business =)

Mini Update and Plan ...

Hey Guys ..

I have emailed Kashif about his costume and have asked to bring it with any other props we may need for tomorrow.I have also emailed Stephanie about the Fake blood , i hope she can come in tomorrow as shes ill so we might need a backup plan.I also called and texted HARPREET but it seems impossible to get in touch with her =( as i have told her to update us on the blog and to get back to me too.Mariam you already know about the little changes and the next steps of our plan. We will discuss all this tomorrow.

I have managed to make a list of most if not all the props we need for tomorrow and the next upcoming days , I will be checking who's got what and what we need to get for next time.

Timetable-08/02/10

Ok Girls ... we really need to work hard this week just like last week and the upcoming weeks , as we all know time is flying by so we need to get a move on with the rest of the scenes and by the end of this week or week , we need to be ready for Editing and finally putting the little pieces together.

We need to have a group meeting on Monday as Me and Mariam have decided to make some little changes and discuss the props and locations we need next!

This Week So Far..

We filmed 3 scenes: two in school and one outside..we still need do the rest of the scenes which are outside as we havent done any major scenes yet so it feels like slow progress.

Next week we need to be more organised with the lighting as that was a problem we encountered because it got too dark whilst we were filiming and used a phone light as a backup.

We need to print that picture of us girlies..so we can do the burning scene on monday hopefully so someone bring a lighter as well and dont forget the fake blood!

Also I was thinking the strangling scene needs altering i'll let you lot know..

Institution logo

Just experimenting on paint :$ then I just did some random effect to it..anyways I think its not tooo bad as the stars are something which Paramount and ours have in common. Its quite simple but elegant.Obviosly we will make one on photoshop soon.

Logo...

This logo isn't our official one as we are still at the experimenting stage we like the idea of having a dripping blood like text and our 2 is distinctive as it looks like someone has etched it out in blood to show a manic side to someone. We might keep the text as it is but change the background colour or the image as it look too white and spacious and we would like it to look chaotic mess.
Maybe we should make the background black?

Halloween-70 shots

Texas Chainsaw- 65 shots

Saw 6- 30 shots ( although trailer was 50 secs)

They manage to get in a lot of shots due to lots of images flashing really quickly & this is with the text included.So far we have 40 shots and we need to add more.In the next up coming days we will be able to produce more then 40 shots as the final storyboard is in progress with more detailed shots and scenes included.

So Far
We have drafted our storyboard and our final one is in in progress as we are breaking it down as we were told we need more shots. We have completed our script but we may adjust it during the course of filming. Also we got round to experimenting with logo making and we have one which we like but may adjust it as I'm unsure about it.

Next Steps
I think we need more dialogue guys..or maybe not?

Our Inspiration...

Four Friends start to receive morbid valentine day cards. Someone out there is stalking them....someone they all spurned when they were younger. And Valentines Day 2001 is the Day she/he gets their revenge.

----------------------------------------------------------

This film is our inspiration as we liked the idea of a guy seeking revenge on girls from his past who rejected him on Valentines day because he was seen as looser.Our plot is different as they aren't linked in intimate ways and we all have personal reasons for bullying him as are character types have diverse motives. The main theme behind the film is love which is why its called 'Valentine' a day where people express their love for one another. Our theme is just twisted revenge as the characters push the protagonist 'One step 2 Far'.

The trailer uses medium shots and diegetic sound to make it seem like they are in an ordinary state where they cant be harmed but the voiceover foreshadows whats about to happen and creates more of an understanding.It also has non diegetic sound which is parallel to the shots used such as when someone gets pulled back and the girl panicking. It uses fast paced shots which fade to black and that's used when there is a iconic scene like when the girl (played by Denise Richards) is screaming for help as the water is rising up.They use a soundbridge that plays until the end to finish the trailer when the name of the film comes up.

The lighting used is low key to make it seem like theres something lurking around and high key which is used for the normal scenes.The target audience of this film is 15 which is similar to ours as there isn't that many gory scenes and swearing is to a minimum also escapism is felt from the audience.The trailer uses a lot of flashes and fades to black and we think this is a key element to make it more dramatic. Its a hybrid slasher genre thats horror/thriller/romance.
